THE SCENE: Austin’s Camp Mabry was recently the setting for a night of fun and record fundraising. Viva! EASB, one of Austin’s spring social mainstays, featured 1,200 of the city’s most notable sociables underneath an open-aired tent with weather as flawless as the event itself.
THE VIBE: The Austin-chic crowd began the evening mingling during the VIP cocktail hour. The conversation was bright and lively, much like the bright colors and fashions worn by many of the event attendees in keeping with the festive Mexican theme. It created a happy, welcoming environment for all on hand.
The festivities continued during the evening’s program, where guests enjoyed their meal, as well as a spirited live auction that included exotic trips as well as a puppy that made a great addition to one lucky family. The paddles up portion of the evening raised a record amount. On a high after the program concluded, the reveling continued well into the night with an after party that was as fun and unique as Austin itself. Foodies were able to sample delectable bites from Austin’s most desirable food trucks, while others chose to snap photos in the nearby photo booth to commemorate the evening. Perhaps the most fun was saved for the dance floor, where patrons danced the night away under the stars to the tunes of the Yacht Rock Review band capping off a night those fortunate enough to be a part of will not soon forget.
THE CAUSE: The evening, co-chaired by Laura Hotze and Megan Houser, provided a record net fundraising total of over $1 million for the Marialice Shivers Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and other mother/baby services at Seton Medical Center. The funds raised will provide emotional, social and nutritional support for NICU families.
