THE SCENE: A high energy crowd of notable guests enjoyed Venice in Houston. Wintery weather and divine masks were the perfect combination for the 600 guests who  gathered at the Hilton Americas Hotel for Carnevale di Venezia,  the 27th annual Women of Distinction Winter Ball.

THE VIBE: The Venetian Carnival theme kept the evening robust, with jugglers and mimes and masks. An opera singer serenaded entering guests as they enjoyed the  Italian waterway scenery as they moved to their tables which donned with candelabras with glittery and feathered masks. The over-the-top live auction  including custom earrings by Franco Valobra, a trip to Cabo, and a Mercedes-Benz  2014 S-Class sedan (thanks to the Mercedes Benz of Greater Houston event  sponsorship). After dinner and the auction, the dance floor was packed well into the night.

THE CAUSE: Benefiting the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, the Winter Ball chaired by Denise Monteleone and Franelle Rogers and honorary chairs Betty and Jess Tutor  brought in a record breaking $830,000 for the cause. Twelve ABC Channel KTRK 13 “Women of Distinction” who have supported the community through their tireless volunteerism walked the runway to be honored included La Patronessa Straordinaria Rosanette Cullen, Jane Page Crump, Winell Herron, Penny Loyd, Joella Mach, Bobbie Nau, Roz Pactor, Rachel Regan, Lisa Simon, Nancy Strohmer, Beth Wolff,  and Beth Madison as the Women of Distinction Ambassador.
