THE SCENE: The residence of Dr. John and Becca Cason Thrash was the perfect setting for a spectacular evening for a truly special cause. The Best Buddies event was special not only for the Thrashes flawlessly executing another of their legendary parties, but also was made more special by two very special guests: Academy Award winner and Best Buddies Global Ambassador Kevin Spacey along with Anthony Kennedy Shriver, son of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the founder of Special Olympics.
From the moment guests entered the Thrash residence, everyone knew a magical evening was eminent. Cocktail chatter flowed as effortlessly as the hostess herself as Becca Cason Thrash personally escorted guests for a meet and greet photo opportunity with Spacey, all the while the silent auction goodies from such luxe brands as Van Cleef & Arpels, Tom Ford, and Valentino among others were beautifully displayed in the residence.
The festivities moved to the main entertaining space, where guests dined on a divine three-course dinner, after which Becca Cason Thrash, Kevin Spacey and Anthony Kennedy Shriver entertained the crowd with a lively Q&A, followed by a moving testimonial from a Best Buddies client. The program concluded with a live auction, where Thrash charmed the crowd as the bidding heated up and the party continued well into the evening.
THE VIBE: The black-tie crowd of 150 created an environment that was the perfect balance of high energy and intimacy. The aura of effortless sophistication reigned supreme as Houstonians hobnobbed with jet setters in from across the state and both coasts, in addition to Mr. Spacey who flew in directly from the Baltimore set of his hit series House of Cards to celebrate the success of the Best Buddies organization.
THE CAUSE: The event, chaired by Becca Cason Thrash, raised over $500,000 for Best Buddies, an organization which creates one-on-one friendships, leadership development opportunities, and integrated employment for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
