THE SCENE: Seton Hospital recently hosted two fundraisers that showcased the wide reach of Austin’s generosity and the way it impacts so many lives in the place we call home. Over 650 of Austin’s philanthropic elite descended upon Austin’s JW Marriot for the 19th annual Celebration of Life luncheon, followed by another 1,100 guests who celebrated at Camp Mabry for the 26th annual EASB LIVE!
THE VIBE: The fashionable luncheon-chic crowd on hand for the Celebration of Life gathering were offered a special mid-day treat which incorporated fashion, music, and of course fundraising for the awareness and prevention of breast cancer. The program fashion show, courtesy of Neiman Marcus, showcased looks from such internationally known designers as Marc Jacobs, Brunello Cucinelli and Milly. The afternoon incorporated the event theme “Where Hope Takes Flight,” which resonated with guests as a heart-tugging photo album featuring 54 women was presented – featuring survivors, thrivers, fighters and lifers who are courageously battling breast cancer. The event concluded as 15-year-old musician Madison McWilliams performed her latest song “Fighter” to the adoring crowd.
At EASB Live! the range of Austin-chic attire made everyone on hand feel ready to join the fun. The festivities began with a cocktail hour where the conversation and spirits flowed freely in anticipation of the evening’s festivities. The crowd then moved into the tented area for the evening’s program where partygoers were treated to a dinner courtesy of Don Strange of Texas Events. The live auction alone fetched over $350,000 with experiences including a trip for two to The Masters in 2018 and a round of golf with reigning Masters Champion, Sergio Garcia. The auction was followed by a special performance by musician Anderson East, after which the action turned to the dance floor where the fun continued well into the evening at the after party hosted by Horizon Bank.
THE CAUSE: The Celebration of Life luncheon, chaired by Maria Groten and Mary Tally, raised over $330,000 for Seton Breast Care Center. These funds will specifically save lives by providing cutting edge medical equipment to patients as well as providing support and education on a national level for breast cancer awareness.
EASB Live!, chaired by Brittany Bailey and Jamie Chandlee, raised a record $1.31 million for medical equipment at the Marialice Shivers Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as other mother/baby services at Seton Medical Center Austin.
