THE SCENE: A sold-out crowd of several thousand recently turned out at the Omni Hotel to celebrate an organization that over the last 25 years has left a huge mark on the Dallas philanthropic, fashion and awareness scenes: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. Dallas’ House of DIFFA 2015 pulled out all the stops to showcase its quarter century of giving and culture with a host of tributes and performances for its lucky guests.
THE VIBE: The evening began in the hotel’s foyer as guests showcased their fashion on the red carpet and moved into the packed cocktail party where party-goers sipped on cocktails while bidding on their favorite silent auction items, which included dozens of custom jackets for purchase, for which DIFFA is best known.
The action then proceeded to the grand ballroom, where guests dined on a multi-course meal while enjoying a program highlighting the various achievements and milestones of combating HIV and AIDS over the last 25 years. After the honoring of the Silver Anniversary Style Council, past event chairs and Greg Haynes Johnson, Chair Emeritus, the crowd was brought to their feet as a cavalcade of musical performance honoring hit bands and songs of the last 25 years. Tributes varying from Milli Vanilli to Lady Gaga left everyone in awe and wanting more. After the program, the fun continued at the after parties where the festivities continued well into the night.
THE CAUSE: The event, chaired by Chuck Steelman, raised much-needed funds for DIFFA Dallas, which provides funding for various AIDS charities in the Dallas and North Texas areas.
