It’s become an annual Spring tradition – Austin’s most chic and fabulous showcasing the latest fashion trends all while supporting a great cause. Austin’s 5th Annual Fashion for Compassion, sponsored by Mercedes Benz of Austin and held at Saks Fifth Avenue, kicked off the home stretch of the Spring Social Season in Austin.
This year’s event, benefitting the Austin Children’s Shelter, co-chaired by Dr. John Hogg, David Garza and Charmaine McGill, featured a family theme with over 70 models ranging from ages 8-Ageless and often included three generations of Austin’s most sociable families showing-off clothes and accessories from many of the hottest designers.
The evening began as guest arrived on the red carpet and were treated to a lively cocktail hour with spirits provided by Deep Eddy Vodka and sampled scrumptious foods throughout Saks Fifth Avenue provided by such Austin mainstays as Lambert’s, Manuels, Siena and Trento. As the evening progressed, guests convened in the middle of the store for a live auction that featured glam items including a Formula One Grand Prix Package in Montreal, an Austin City Limits Music Mogul VIP Package, a Fashion Star Experience in Beverly Hills and a Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Package in New York. The evening concluded “on the runway” as guests flowed into their seats to witness the hippest and latest in fashion – capping off a great evening and wondering how the event will top itself next year. Like always, it will and we look forward to it.
