Mingle & Jingle All The Way

The Shops at La Cantera Retail Partnership With Tiffany & Co. Inspires Generosity

The Shops at La Cantera recently presented its annual, wildly successful Holiday Mingle & Jingle in partnership with Tiffany & Co and the store’s director, Mike Gresham.

Guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a little socializing and a lot of shopping, plus exclusive holiday offers ranging from special discounts and gifts with purchase at the event that happened in the Fountain Court between the Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus stores. The event was driven by marketing director Michelle Robertson and her team, who helmed the flawless evening with many months of preparation.

The shopping celebration inspired generosity and benefited six local charities in San Antonio: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, San Antonio Sports, Seton Home, Thrive Well Cancer Foundation, Viola’s Huge Heart Foundation, and WINGS and here is a little more about the charities that the event supported:

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Founded in 1949, they are relentless in pursuit of their mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children, adolescents and young adults under the age of 20. Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers and incidence increases with age. As a nonprofit, they rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

San Antonio Sports  San Antonio Sports is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform our community through the power of sport.  San Antonio Sports bids on and hosts premier sporting events such as NCAA® championships, which have generated a local economic impact of more than $424 million.  San Antonio Sports kids programs, including an afterschool program, the Community Olympic Development Program, the Valero Go!Kids Challenge™ and ING Kids Rock marathon training program, annually touch the lives of more than 180,000 children.  Additionally, San Antonio Sports serves as a catalyst for the development of quality recreational and athletic facilities in our community.  To learn more, visit SanAntonioSports.org.

Seton Home  Seton Home is a nurturing home for homeless pregnant and parenting teens ages 12 – 22 who have chosen to keep and raise their children and rebuild their lives. Seton Home’s supportive services enable their teens to grow emotionally, academically and spiritually through an individualized treatment plan. Seton Home focuses on education, parenting and life skills, while meeting the basic needs of the families they serve. Seton Home’s goal is to help teen mothers overcome their abusive past and transform their lives from one of dependency to self-sufficiency to have a brighter future for them and their baby.

Thrive Well Cancer Foundation  ThriveWell Cancer Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding cancer research, providing patient support and offering programs to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. DIVA (Deriving Inspiration and Vitality through Activity) is a fitness program offering a variety exercise classes, including aerobics, yoga, and Thai Chi classes, as well as nutritional counseling, for breast cancer patients and survivors. The program is provided in four different locations around San Antonio and at no charge to participants. DIVA was developed because research shows that breast cancer patients who follow diet and exercise guidelines can reduce their risk of recurrence by 30-40 percent. Since its inception in May 2007 through September 30, 2012 more than 650 women have participated in the program. In addition to the DIVA program, ThriveWell Cancer Foundation also provides financial assistance to cancer patients in need and also funds cutting edge research in the San Antonio area.

Viola’s Huge Heart Foundation  Viola’s Huge Heart Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives of good, hard-working individuals—especially women—who face insurmountable obstacles in life, by providing hope through educational scholarships and charitable assistance. The Foundation endeavors to help individuals and families in the places Viola Barrios loved most: San Antonio, Texas and her hometown, Bustamante, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
