THE SCENE: Recently, on a beautiful, crisp Sunday evening, nearly 1,000 lively guests gathered at the Hilton in Downtown Austin to cheer on their favorite VIP’s as they cut a rug for a very worthy cause, the 7th Annual Dancing with The Stars Austin. The ten localebrity dance contestants provided those lucky enough in attendance to delve into a “Sweet Escape” where dancers channeled their inner James Bond, brought “Sexy Back”, “Blurred Lines” with “All that Jazz” just to name a few of the production numbers.
THE VIBE: It was classic eclectic-Austin: chic black-tie and formal gowns mixed seamlessly with hip cocktail attire. The pre-dancing festivities included a festive cocktail hour, where several of the dancers came out from behind the scenes to mingle with the crowd. Guests then adjourned into the ballroom for dinner, a special professional performance of “Save the World,” and a live auction which featured items such as a 2014 F1 VIP experience, an Aspen vacation, two Luca, Italy jaunts provided by Charles Duggan, and two spots in the 2014 Dancing with the Stars competition. Once the ten dance performances concluded and the votes were being tallied, presenting sponsor Lexus of Austin raffled off a Lexus ES 300 hybrid. Then the mirror ball trophy was presented to winner Will Hardeman and guests proceeded to the dance floor, partying the night away to the beats of DJ Johnny Bravvo.
THE CAUSE: Dancing with the Stars, co-chaired by Carol Adams and Alex Winkleman raised over a million dollars for the Center for Child Protection, a nationally accredited child advocacy center which provided services to over 2,000 abused and neglected children along with 1,300 adults each year.
