Austin is now officially part of the Jet Set schedule. Circuit of the Americas and Formula 1 raced into town with anticipation and hype like nothing the Austin area has experienced before – and it did not disappoint in its freshman outing. Nearly 300,000 of the worlds most chic, glam and fabulous roared into Austin for a weekend of racing by day and partying by night.
The weekend began atop of Austin at The Four Season Residences for the US Star Events party, where everyone from local Sociables to international race car drivers took advantage of the stunning downtown views. As the weekend sped on, Full Tilt fashion show at the W Austin hotel, showcasing designers from all around the world including Austin’s very own Linda Asaf. My Yacht/My F-1 events and John Paul and Eolise DeJoria entertained fellow Jet-Setters at Ballet Austin, which was transformed into a Monaco style night-club, where the international elite dance and partied into the wee hours of the morning. The parties bookended the weekend with the races itself at the new track south of Austin’s airport. Many internationals and notables, including BMW of Austin’s Steve and Ava Late entertained in their two-story track-side suite where old friends reunited and new were friendships formed.
Kudos to the City of Austin for its execution of the event weekend. Traffic by car or shuttle out to the track was much easier than anyone could have imagined. Locals volunteered in near record numbers at the track to be a part of the experience and show that famous Texas hospitality to the uber-rich that ensures they will be back for at least nine more turns around the track – the contract with Circuit of Americas runs through 2021, so buckle up for more fun ahead.
