Austin’s Spring debutante season is in full bloom like never before. On a gorgeous day hundreds of well-wishers and do-gooders gathered at the Palmer Events Center for The Crystal Ball, a debutante presentation that has been a staple in the Austin community for nearly 70 years.
This ball, chaired by Jana Howden and Dinah Barksdale, benefitted the Helping Hand Home for Children, a vital part of our community that for the past 120 years has provided a nurturing and therapeutic home for children who are the victims of abuse and neglect.
The full day of activities commenced with brunch that included a presentation of the First Grade Princesses’ bows and fashion included show produced by Sue Webber Productions that featured glam fashion from Austin’s Julian Gold store.
As day turned into evening, 32 debutantes, their escorts, junior escorts, Ninth Grade Girl and Boy participants, family and friends partook in The Crystal Ball Presentation Gala, which featured a silent auction, a dinner by Rosemary’s Catering and culminated with guests dancing the night away to the music of soul band Memphis Train. It’s an evening that will be long remembered.
