On a bright and sunny afternoon, nearly 300 of Austin’s most fashionable ladies including Texas First Lady Anita Perry gathered at Austin Country Club for the annual Heart & Sole Luncheon. This year’s event raised a record $175,000 for the Rise School of Austin, which is devoted to providing quality education to children eighteen months to six years of age with developmental disabilities such as Down’s syndrome in an inclusive and caring environment. We love that.
The event co-chaired by Ellen Burt, Sheri Krause and Kendra Scott featured a full program of activities including a silent auction of a plethora of luxury handbags and shoes generously donated by local merchants and friends of the cause. A delicious three course lunch, then a warm and moving testimonials from Kathy Mervin (a parent of one of the children attending the Rise School) and Donna Stockton Hicks, then concluded with a raffle of très chic accessories.
The silent auction in particular was a rousing succes with a Who’s Who of luxe fashion names on display for bidding. These items included donations from such designers as Chanel, Dolce and Gabanna, Fendi, Gucci, Jimmy Choo and Louis Vuitton ensuring that the ladies who lunch were bound to leave this event even more well-heeled and accessorized than when they arrived.
