THE SCENE: Downtown Austin’s Hilton Hotel was the recent scene for an afternoon of the ultimate in fashion, accessories and most of all, raising funds for a very worthy cause. The eighth annual Heart and Sole luncheon brought out over 400 of Austin’s most fashionable women as they were treated to a fashion show for children while searching for the perfect accessory score.
THE VIBE: Upon arriving at foyer of the venue’s ballroom, attendees were treated to a deluxe assortment of several dozen luxury handbags, jewelry and accessories. They were all available for bid via a lively and competitive silent auction, where many attendees continuously checked to ensure they were not outbid for their favorite accessory.
Guests then entered the ballroom where emcees Matt Swinney and Olga Campos-Benz emceed a lively program. The event had a “heads or tails” live auction along with a fashion show for “kids of all ages” that featured debonair men, including University of Texas football legends Ricky Williams and Vince Young as they escorted children of the Rise School down the runway in the latest styles.
THE CAUSE: The event, chaired by Cindy Lind, Venus Strawn and Matt Swinney, and raised a record $244,000 for The Rise School Austin, which provides an inclusive and diverse education environment for children ages six and younger who are both traditional learners and learners with mild development disabilities.
