Eva Longoria has gone “all-in” once again this year for her annual star-studded Celebrity Poker Night in San Antonio. The event was held recently at the celeb-worthy JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa. The red carpet, glow bars, and surprises around every corner transformed the hotel into a Vegas-style casino. Guests participated in a Texas Hold’Em poker tournament led by Phil Hellmuth, thirteen time World Series of Poker Champion.
Which stars shone most brightly? Hands down it was the organization’s celebrity Eva Longoria, known for her role on ABC’s Desperate Housewives and co-founder of Eva’s Heroes and Mario Lopez of Extra. Various local celebrities were at the event as well that included former San Antonio Spurs player Sean Elliot. “I always look forward to playing poker with friends and supporters in San Antonio,” said Longoria. “I am constantly amazed by the generosity of the this community.”
Wendy Welsh and her team at Outside the Box Events coordinated the celebrity- filled evening, and stepping into the game this year to take the event to the next level was sponsor Xbox Live. Their support added new avatar and social media components into the event and guests were treated to a plethora of Vegasesque casino games, silent and live auctions, as well as true Texas musical entertainment by the Sam Riggs Band.
All proceeds from the star-studded event will benefit Eva’s Heroes, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of those with intellectual special needs by providing an inclusive setting built on four tenets – to interact, grow, learn and love. Based in San Antonio, the organization helps teens and adults with intellectual special needs to integrate and flourish in society.
