Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational Wows Crowd

THE SCENE: Thousands of Dallas’ most glittering and fabulous came to the Omni Dallas Hotel for the Friday Night party celebration of the 7th Annual Emmitt Smith Celebrity Invitational (ESCI) presented by Axxess, and sponsored by Albertsons/Tom Thumb. The event was emceed by comedian Broderick Rice and entertainment for the Friday Night Party was provided by Daughtry, sponsored by PlainsCapital.
THE VIBE: A slew of sports and entertainment celebrities walked the red carpet, including former Dallas Cowboys and current FOX sports analyst Daryl Johnston, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, NFL Arizona Cardinals Assistant Coach Dr. Jen Welter, Grammy Award winner Kirk Franklin, former Raiders Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen, Assistant Coach of the Sacramento Kings Nancy Lieberman, and The Real Housewives of Dallas cast members LeeAnne Locken and Tiffany Hendra. Bishop T.D. Jakes led the attendees in prayer and while guests enjoyed dinner, Pat and Emmitt Smith presented the Roger Staubach award to Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw for their exceptional work with women and children around the country.
THE CAUSE: Honorary chairs Alan and Leann White and event chairs Carmen and Thomas Surgent organized this successful event. Before the ballroom doors opened, ESCI had already raised $1 million dollars and by the night’s end, a figure of $1.2 million dollars raised was being extolled. Over its seven years, the event has raised more than $6.2 million dollars in support of Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities, including PESC’s very own Team 22 program. Team 22 provides long-term mentorship, unique enrichment experiences, a summer enrichment program, college tours and access to a college education for students through scholarships.
