Anyone familiar with The Society Diaries knows that we love fashion and style. The fourth annual Austin Fashion Week outdid themselves once again this year by showcasing the very best fashions coming out of Austin’s trendy fashion scene. Over the course of nine days and 70 events, over 20,000 of Austin’s hip and stylish made their presence felt, including Texas First Lady Anita Perry, Top Chef Winner Paul Qui and Hart of Dixie star Scott Porter.
The week began by immediately jumping into high gear at the kickoff party, where AFW partnered with Circuit of The Americas™ for the “Shift Into Style” party at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, benefitting the Seton Breast Cancer Center and Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center. Combining the thrilling worlds of fast cars and fast clothes created a wonderful prelude to the many Circuit of The Americas™ events to happen over the next several years in Austin.
Chaired by the founders Matt and Kara Swinney, who were well-heeled and glam throughout the entire week we joined by several of Austin’s most talented designers and stylists including Linda Asaf, Ross Bennett, Sarah Eileen, League of Rebels and Sandra Antoun saved the best for last at The Austin Fashion Awards held at the Austin Music Hall, where morning adio personality emcee Sandy McIlree entertained the crowd. It was a mix of fashion runway presentations, which included a showing of Kendra Scott’s latest jewelry line as well as a show by Margarita Sapala of New York and presenters, including The Society Diaries own Lance Avery Morgan, who all presented Rising Star and Trailblazer awards to the best of the best fashion designers and stylists. After the awards show, VIP’s danced the night away at the after party where Spectra: The Official Austin Fashion Week After Party was held, capping off another week of terrific fashion, style and fun.
