DOG DAY AFTERNOON

Our resident pet expert Suzanne Negley loves to capture dogs and their owner. Here she again finds the most interesting pooches and their owners to photograph to share how their pets enjoy their chic environments

MAYSON PEARSON & GUS, AUSTIN

Does your dog have any quirks we should know about?

Gus is so beautiful that he answers to the word. People say it to him so often that he thinks that Beautiful should be his name.

Who was Gus in another life?

Ernest Hemingway…in the Cuba years.

BURKLEY FITZSIMONS & GUS, HOUSTON

What is the genesis of your pet’s name?

My husband would say Augustus McCrae from Lonesome Dove, I say Gus the mouse from Cinderella. Both suit him perfectly.

What’s Gus’s look these days?

He’s very versatile. He has a large collection of sweaters because he’s often cold. Camo for the ranch, preppy stripes for city.

KELLY-NEGLEY-HEIDI-SAN-ANTONIO

KELLY NEGLEY & HEIDI, SAN ANTONIO

What is your dog’s signature trait?

She’s a girl’s girl, through and through. She’ll flirt with the male dogs at the park, but gets scared if they come too close and runs away.

Who was Heidi in another life?

A Hollywood starlet, possibly Audrey Hepburn. She walks like a poodle and is sure she is the greatest thing to happen to this world.
