THE SCENE: Some of Austin’s most prominent patrons of the arts recently attended Ballet Austin’s La Belle at Fête, and its Fête*ish after-party, Beauty and the Beast, at the W Hotel. From the moment guests ascended the modern staircase, lined with large and beautiful flowers to highlight the enchanted forest theme, they knew a magical evening of fun and fantasy was about to be encountered.

Beginning with a cocktail party in the upstairs foyer, it continued into the ballroom where guests were treated to a four-course meal. The robust live auction, coinciding with dessert, featured vacation packages to Colorado and Belize, along with a wine connoisseur package, and other opportunities to donate to Ballet Austin.

THE VIBE: The ballroom, especially grand, was peppered with a floral décor of reds, pinks and purples by Mandarin Flower Co. Thoughtfully executed detail, from the mirror centerpieces, handmade colorful mobiles and rose petal tablecloths for the VIP tables would have made all the characters from the legendary fairytale feel right at home. After the dinner and auction, guests ventured back to the foyer and ballroom for the late night Fête*ish, where Fête attendees mixed with the newly-arrived Fête*ish attendees to dance the evening away in style, with late night performances, DJ’s rocking, and cocktails flowing.

THE CAUSE: The gala, chaired by Karen and Will Steakley raised a record-breaking sum of over $310,0000 for Ballet Austin’s Community Education Programs that reach over 75,000 Central Texans each year.
