THE SCENE: It was a glorious time that unfolded recently as the San Antonio Gardenia Club celebrated a royal magical evening for the 57th annual coronation in classic traditional style on the lawn of the historic Argyle Club. Guest were greeted by sparkling Rosé cocktails and the venue’s famous cheese straws. Harpist Nelda Etheridge serenaded guests as they arrived to celebrate the coronation and presentation of the 2018 Gardenia Club Court and Queen.
THE VIBE: The court included 23 Princesses, all escorted by TMI Saber Guard, with four flower girls and six attendees. The two Duchesses were Kendall Lauren Batchelor and Savannah Lynn Brown. Ashton Leigh McDaniel was crowned The Gardenia Club’s 2018-19 Queen, and she was escorted by her brother Lofton McDaniel. Guests enjoyed an elegant four course dinner prepared by the Argyle’s Executive Chef Serge Patrick Devesa. Princess, Duchesses and Queen, along with their guests, danced the night away on the club’s grounds to Mach Entertainment. The floral décor for the event was provided by Tom Cardenas of RTC Florist.
THE CAUSE: The San Antonio Gardenia and Musical Club was founded in 1960, with the mission of providing fine arts scholarships to deserving students who graduate from Bexar County high schools, enabling young scholars to continue their education at local colleges.
