THE SCENE: The Contemporary Austin recently held two events to raise funds for the newly renamed The Contemporary Jones Center. The first was held at the Brazos Lofts space in downtown Austin was the scene for the 14th annual event 5 X 7 gala that draws hundreds of Austin’s hippest and most artful residents.
The Contemporary Austin 5×7 featured over 700 pieces of 5×7 works of art from over 400 artists. Collectors roamed the lofty space to obtain their very own 5×7 masterpiece, which could be purchased for $150. The second was a beautiful dinner at the lakeside Laguna Gloria, where over 150 patrons dined outdoors in a beautifully designed continental-style table that wove seamlessly through the grounds.
THE VIBE: The events brought together the eclectic mix of Austin as the 5×7 crowd donned their best Austin-hipster attire that was ideal perfect for the extravaganza where Sociables seamlessly blended in with world-class art collectors for a wonderfully energetic vibe that was creative, fun and sophisticated. The garden dinner featured a mix of formal cocktail attire and summery black-tie sophistication complete with many in bright and bold spring colors perfect for the lushly green venue.
THE CAUSE: The proceeds from both events benefitted The Contemporary, Jones Center one of the most beloved contemporary art museums in Texas.
