THE SCENE: The JW Marriott in downtown Austin was the setting for one of the year’s most anticipated and fashionable luncheons. The 315 sociably chic guests who were on hand to celebrate a decade of The Rise School Of Austin’s Heart & Soul luncheon showcased the best of Austin – its unique style and incredible sense of philanthropy.
THE VIBE: As guests ascended the escalators to the ballroom foyer, they were greeted with many familiar faces that effortlessly mixed with the newcomers, which created a fun and spirited energy. Attendees bid on the dozens of luxury handbags that featured something for everyone to browse and buy. The selection included an array of national brands including Chloe, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Gucci and Michael Kors as well as custom, one-of-a-kind bags from local clothing boutiques including Estilo, By George, Raven + Lily and Kick Pleat. Those seeking other types of accessories had the chance to bid on jewelry from Eliza Page, Kendra Scott and Liz James.
The action then turned to the ballroom where guests dined on a delicious lunch, as emcee Matt Swinney helmed an hour that combined fun with a tug of the heartstrings. The program featured a father/child fashion show where past and present Rise School students modeled clothes as walked the runway escorted by their fathers.
THE CAUSE: The event, chaired by Leslie Easterling and Susanna Murray, raised over $226,000 for The Rise School of Austin, which provides an inclusive and diverse educational environment for children ages six and younger, where both traditional learners and learners with mild developmental disabilities learn to thrive.
